Schools Writer-In-Residence
A brand-new youth program in partnership with Centralian Senior College and Alice Springs Public Library.
From March – May 2024, two Writers in Residence are working with Year 10 English students to explore creative responses to the theme of dystopia. The Writer in Residence program runs as an elective, open to any student in Year 10 wanting to explore their career pathway as a writer and develop skills in poetry writing, the editing process, performance and delivery.
Writers in Residence
Jasmine Story is an Mparntwe based playwright, producer and performer interested in creating theatre that reimagines our consumerist society. In 2023 Jasmine temporarily relocated to Brisbane to participate in the Zen Zen Zo Creative Internship Program in physical theatre, and the Playlab Transmission Program for regional playwrights. She is developing her new work SMOKO, a high vis fever dream about rest and waste. She performed in site-specific physical theatre performance, Skelter directed by Gina Tay Limpus. In collaboration with Lili Favrel, Jasmine co-wrote and performed children’s psycho-educational theatre piece, Floopy’s Fuzzeled Feelings. Jasmine also performed in the debut of The Nestmakers by Betty Sweetlove.
Jonny Rowden is a British-born performing artist based in Mparntwe Alice Springs. His practice has involved writing for both page and stage, performing, collaborating, photography, and video creation. Creatively, his interests lie in food and performance, working in non-typical theatre/performance spaces, and creating bespoke, intimate work for smaller audiences.
