Richard Creswick

Richard Creswick is a retired Darwin Journalist who arrived in Darwin in 1972 for the introduction of state-type News bulletins on the newly opened, ABC TV. At Self Government for the NT in 1978 he became the first Public Relations Officer for the NT Electricity Commission (NTEC) and went on to work in the media units of the Federal Labor Government (1983 to ’96) and the first Labor NT Chief Minister, Clare Martin. In 2021 he self-published the book “They gave us a television station to play with” to mark the 50th anniversary of the arrival of ABC TV in Darwin and with the local author, Derek Pugh, has produced the book “Tracy: 50 years, 50 stories”. Richard holds a world record for a Barramundi, set in 1994 when he landed a 27.1 kg fish on 7 kg line. He and his wife, Patsy, still live in Darwin.
